Ever wonder how your server is doing? We’ve now implemented a new feature where users can check to see how their server is doing. This feature checks the uptime every 5 minutes.

Publishing an uptime page also shows the skeptical users how awesome our free hosting actually is! You can locate the uptime page by scrolling all the way to the bottom of our page and click Server Uptime Last 30 Days.

Go ahead, check out how great our uptime is!

Is five minutes standard time for checks like this? I have seen other places that only do checks every 30 minutes. Are they just worried about taxing the server?

I know I’m a ‘bit’ of a geek, but I get excited about things like this. I’m only at 4 days currently with my Linux laptop, but my record was three months without a reboot. Not the world’s greatest but it kicked my Windows stats in the pants!

For our server at work the upcheck time I believe is every 30 minutes or hour. I’ve never personally checked it but our IT guy has. As long as the server is working the way it should I don’t pay much attention.

I don’t see any reason for the average person to check on this, but for site owners it can be an important gauge of how well run the servers are. You don’t want your site to be down all of the time.

It’s exactly that in my opinion, it’s to give website owners the chance to see whether the host that they are considering is good enough to meet their needs, or whether they would be expecting it to be down a lot.

I disagree to an extent. I think that it’s in every website owner’s interests to check this out, regardless of how serious they are, especially if they want to build a visitor base.

Yes, everyone needs to know this, but not everyone is interested in seeing the stats live, as they happen. It takes a certain type of person to want to see the numbers I think.

That is great that you show the uptime and and make it easy to find on your website. For website IT people it would definitely be an upside to have that available, our IT department is always going on about how the server is working and the demand we put on it.

This is great for your clients! I’ve never looked at our server’s uptime but obviously some people do. It never occurred to me to check it but maybe one of our people already does this.

I work alongside the IT department at my company quite often. I am required to report on our server’s status to management often. This comes in handy for IT and website owners. This is such a great feature for any website to have!

I have to admit I’ve never checked my server’s uptime. Maybe my coworker does and I should ask him. Every 5 minutes is a good measure since it gives you an indication of how your server is doing in real time.
