Prior to today, we were using reseller hosting accounts. We’ve now outgrown reseller hosting, passed VPS servers, and moved directly to dedicated servers.

We can confirm that everyone’s accounts were successfully moved over without any down time. It appears that the name-servers have now 100% propagated over to the new servers. If you’re using NS1.WeHostFree.com and NS2.WeHostFree.com as your nameservers, there’s nothing else for you to do.

However, if you’re using custom name-servers, such as ns1.YourDomain.com and ns2.YourDomain.com, then you need to update the IP addresses your name-servers point to. Otherwise your site will appear offline! If you need any assistance, please feel free to open a support ticket.

Our new servers are located in Canada, which is a central location for the entire North American continent. We have been thinking about opening a dedicated server overseas for our foreign customers. If this is something you think you’d be interested in, please feel free to e-mail us or leave a comment below.

As always, should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to open a support ticket 24/7/365.

Do you still offer clients VPS services if they need it? My work sometimes farms these out so we have test environments for projects that we are working on.

This must be such a nice indicator of success for you guys! Congratulations on making the move onto bigger and better things, I hope that things continue going your way.

How much of a difference would it make to a person, if they were in a different country? And would you specifically direct them to the nearest server center for their hosting?

I think that’s why they want a to put a server overseas, to generate more clientele from those countries. I’m not sure how it currently works, whether the overseas customers are routed to the server here in North America.

How hard is it for you to locate servers internationally? I imagine the laws in those countries overseas may be a little different from ours. It would certainly send a lot of business your way and be better for your overseas clients.

It’s not normally a difficult thing to do, from what I understand. It’s simply a matter of locating a service provider that you get on with. The only trouble is that you are less likely to be able to visit the data center.

I would think that most people wouldn’t be regularly visiting the server center anyway. Most would simply pay the owner company to handle the hands on server work.

This is very much the case, since most people host with companies whose physical location is quite some distance away. It’s easier to leave that work to the specialists.

Have you ever been in a server room? I didn’t find it a nice place to be, and honestly would be happy to leave that kind of thing to people who are paid plenty to do it!

Are prices in Canada better, along with be centralized? Congratulations on moving to dedicated servers and it’s great that it was done with little problems for your clients other than pointing their site to the new server.

This has to be one of the most important aspects of this I would think. If a migration such as this completely messes things up for your clients, then a lot of people will be upset.

That is quite a bit away from where you are located isn’t it. I suppose since it is a server you don’t actually need to be near it. It makes sense if it makes it easier for clients to move it to a central location.

Was switching servers and locations a long process? How are you enjoying the switch? I bet opening a dedicated oversea server would grow business and help a lot!

I’ve seen sites that forget to update their IPs to point to their new servers. I’m glad the move went smoothly for you and your clients. If you want more clients overseas it would be a good idea to have a dedicated server over there.
